Torrione degli Spagnoli, also called Galasso, is a fourteenth-century monument with a rectangular plan and a characteristic vertical structure, with a view of Carpi.
Located in the Palazzo dei Pio complex, the building has once again become an active part of the city following an important building consolidation and finishing project which has restored the curvature, shape and spatiality of the famous vault of the Zodiac, recovered decorations, decorative elements and frescoes and inserted new structural elements, such as the OS2 75 steel systems on the top floor of the tower, meticulously designed to achieve very high thermal and acoustic insulation performance, made to measure to accommodate the marked irregularity of the windows.
Thus contemporaneity and ancient context find their meeting point in the Torrione, returning it to its city as the first part of a virtuous system that sees the territory flourish again, through the recovery of history.
