In the conversion project of the seventeenth-century Palazzo Turinetti in Turin, Michele De Lucchi’s studio AMDL Circle transforms former banking archives into the new home of the Gallerie d’Italia. The intervention redefines ten thousand square meters of exhibition spaces, predominantly underground, establishing a deep dialogue between the courtly Baroque rigor of the surface and the contemporary fluidity of the hypogeum environments. The architectural narrative revolves around the theme of natural light, channeled into the lower levels through geometric graftings and a monumental staircase. In this delicate transition process, the threshold between inside and outside is governed by Secco Sistemi’s OS2 75 series, selected in galvanized steel. Chosen for their micro-minimal sections and purity of lines, the profiles accommodate the wide arched openings of the piano nobile and the geometries of the entrance vestibules without altering the historical proportions. The dark, rigorous texture of the painted metal integrates discreetly into the pre-existing architecture, confirming Secco Sistemi’s aptitude for resolving the nexus between philological restoration and technological vanguard.
