1. A possible future project of a minimal self-sufficient living unit on show at the XXI Triennale of Milan
Secco Sistemi is a partner in the development of the project of a minimal living unit – 33 metres squared and a loggia of 12 m sq – that may be doubled or multiplied, and is designed to be self-sufficient from a viewpoint of energy production by exploiting the new technologies of dye solar cells or DSCs.
The project of the studio Lazzarini Pickering Architetti is entitled La vie en rose – in reference to the dominating colour of the project and an optimistic auspice for the future – and is exhibited in the Stanze. Altre Filosofie dell’Abitare (Rooms. Other philosophies of living) show at the Triennale of Milan from April 2nd to September 12th 2016.
2. Secco Sistemi OS2 65.2 to design the outer casing of the living unit and define the spaces and functions
In the prototype of the living unit on show, the profile that outlines the walls – glazing panels from the floor to the ceiling – is OS2 65.2 with large spaces alternating fixed elements and pivoting door-windows.
OS2 65.2 is a thermal break steel window with slender profiles and flush-mounted glazing, used here to interpret with elegance and discretion the composite design of the walls containing functional areas and facilities, doubling to creating the loggia-glasshouse, a domestic space that acts as go-between from outside to inside, and which transform themselves into elements that furnish the living space.
On all the wall surfaces of the living unit, both on the outside and on the inside, photovoltaic film has been applied in which coloured dyes (which may be of vegetable origin, obtained from bilberries, blood oranges, seaweed, aubergine skin etc.) absorb the light and transform it into electrical energy through a process of artificial photosynthesis. The energy collectors are mounted on the frames of the fixtures, realized with OS2 profiles.
